New Delhi to deploy 2,000 more people in IT industry

New Delhi: The government is set to add 2,200 more people to its workforce in information technology by 2019, the government said on Tuesday.

The government’s National Information Technology Policy Committee, a group headed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, has submitted its recommendations for a nationwide strategy for the IT sector and the national information technology strategy, a government statement said.

The committee’s recommendations are expected to be presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the coming weeks, it added.

The IT industry contributes more than 60% to India’s gross domestic product and employs more than half a million people.
